Arianna Stassa
Arianna Stassa is from Westchester, NY and is a junior in the undergraduate elementary education program. Outside of her studies, she is involved in the Detroit Partnership program where she works with younger students in the Detroit community.
Siobhan Stemme
Siobhan Stemme is a junior in the Marsal Family School of Education studying Elementary Education. She is originally from Centreville, Virginia and has wanted to be a teacher since her first day of Kindergarten. Outside of school, she tutors with a local non-profit, is a Campus Tour Guide, and a camp counselor during the summer.
Lauren McFarland
Lauren is a junior at the University of Michigan Marsal Family School of Education studying Elementary Education. At Michigan, she is involved in campus sustainability efforts in Theta Alpha Psi and also loves competing in intramural sports. Outside of her education, she enjoys nature, running, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.
Anna Ruocco
Anna is a senior in the Marsal Family School of Education's Secondary Education program working towards an endorsement in social studies. She is from Long Island, NY and runs a campus organization dedicated to educating the UM Panhellenic community on mental health and wellness related issues.
Jessica Zimmer
Jessica Zimmer is a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan studying Psychology, Spanish, and Secondary Education. She hopes to teach in Spain after graduation before becoming a high school Math or Spanish teacher.
Rachel Wellings
Rachel is originally from Ann Arbor, MI and her undergraduate degree is in Special Education from Michigan State University. She is currently enjoying her time in the Master of Arts with Elementary Teacher Certification program, otherwise known as ELMAC, here at the University of Michigan.
Meiling Huang
Meiling Huang grew up in China. She has always valued education and has found her passion in teaching since High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education with a focus on Reading Instruction at Winona State University, MN. Now she is pursuing her master’s degree in the ELMAC program at the University of Michigan.
Morgan Franks
Morgan grew up in Southeast Michigan and has lived in both East Lansing and Ann Arbor since graduating high school. She went to Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a focus in mathematics and decided to switch gears and come to the University of Michigan for the ELMAC program, which is a decision that she is grateful to have made. A fun fact about Morgan is that she has been a figure skater for 17 years!
Adelaide Barcalow
Adelaide grew up in Wayne county, Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2022 with a B.S.E. in Computer Science with a Mathematics Minor. She joined the SecMAC program right after finishing her undergraduate degree, and plans to teach math and computer science at the high school level after graduating.
Eliana Ungar
Eliana Ungar is a student in the SecMAC program pursuing endorsements in Spanish, Social Studies, and ESL. She is from West Bloomfield, Michigan and also attended U of M for her undergraduate degree. She is interning in a middle school Spanish class this year and is excited to talk to you about the program!
Alexia Coleman
Alexia Coleman is a student in the Master of Arts with Secondary Teacher Certification program. Her endorsement subjects are English and ESL. She is from Rochester Hills, Michigan and completed her undergraduate degree from Oakland University in English. She is interning in an 8th grade ELA class this year and is so excited to answer your questions about this program!
Gina Ceccarelli
Gina Ceccarelli is from Boise, Idaho! In her program, she is interested in learning how to develop an inclusive curriculum for K-12 students throughout the United States, specifically the PNW. She received her BS in Sociology and BS in Ethnic Studies from Boise State University in 2021. Gina is also an avid coffee drinker and lover, which is great because Ann Arbor has a lot of great local stops in that department! She’s looking forward to talking with all prospective students, especially those moving from another state, interested in curriculum development, or also love coffee (or if you don't!)!
Carina Wilson
Carina is a FGLI scholar and mixed-lineage mother from Denver, CO. She is a QuestBridge alum and received her BA in Socio-cultural Anthropology from Grinnell College in 2019. After having her son and working in many different fields after graduation, she applied to the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT) program and chose to pursue her Masters of Education at the University of Michigan's Marsal Family School of Education. She is in the EEJST concentration and her research interests include indigenous reconnection journeys, the decolonization and re-indigenization of learning spaces/ systems, and infusing socio-emotional learning and engagement in academic spaces. Carina also loves to spend time outside with her family, making earrings, and crocheting blankets in her flexible time.
Meena Vasudevan
Meena is an Educational Studies student from Lincoln, NE and Seattle, WA. She is passionate about Higher Education Public Policy and finding the best ways for institutions to support marginalized students on campus. In her free time she loves to read, write and find new neighborhoods to explore and take walks in Ann Arbor.
JaCarla Anderson
JaCarla Anderson (She/Her/Hers) was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois and is currently working toward her Master of Arts in Higher Education within the Diversity and Social Justice Concentration. Some of her academic interests include working on creating a more equitable space for students of color, with an emphasis on Black students through student programming and organizational work. She currently interns in the Center for Campus Involvement working as a Graduate Intern for Late Night Programming with the UMix team. A fun fact about her is that she loves to travel and has been to 21 states and 5 countries.
Khan Nguyen
Khan is a recent alumnus from the University of Michigan with a masters degree in Higher Education Administration. He is currently working at the University of Michigan, College of Engineering in the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences department as the recruitment and outreach coordinator. He was borned and raised from Silver Spring, Maryland and enjoys running, playing volleyball, and trying out new hobbies!
