The project will engage in mathematics and will involve preservice teachers (PSTs) and teacher educators preparing them to teach grades K-5. In collaboration with project Principal Investigator Meghan Shaughnessy at Boston University, co-Principal Investigator Timothy Boerst will lead the U-M team to provide administrative and intellectual leadership to the project, and engage with project Co-PI Nicole Garcia in the design, training, conduct of studies, and dissemination activities relevant to the project’s three research foci:

  1. Using simulations to support the improvement of PSTs’ practice
  2. Investigating issues of simulation validity and reliability
  3. Exploring characteristics of the simulation performance space
