Staff and faculty are invited to participate in a workshop hosted by Kristen Carney, our embedded CAPS counselor, and other CAPS colleagues, on how to support students in distress.

This workshop will provide key factors to look for in a student who may be struggling with their mental health and how to support in a compassionate and constructive way. Presenters from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will provide effective strategies to initiate difficult conversations with a student of concern while working in a remote setting. Campus student mental health resources and crisis consultation services for staff and faculty will also be discussed.

Kristen Carney is a clinical social worker at the University of Michigan's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). She is embedded at the Ford School and School of Education.

The Zoom link will be available to all who register: https://sessions.studentlife.umich.edu/track/event/session/36959
