Cathy Hearn serves as a Program Improvement Specialist at the Center of Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER). Her work focuses on program design, management, and evaluation in service of improvement. Cathy also leads CEDER’s efforts to provide supportive and inclusive professional learning opportunities for graduate student interns.
Cathy is committed to contributing towards greater social equity and justice through education. Her professional experience spans school, nonprofit, policy, evaluation, and research settings and includes work in international contexts. In 2017, she completed her MA in Educational Leadership and Policy at the Marsal Family School of Education, where she was awarded a Master's Fellowship. In 2014, she graduated with a BA in English from the University of Cambridge, UK, where she was awarded a Scholarship of the College.
Outside of her work at the University of Michigan, Cathy loves to paint, read, cook, spend time with friends and family, and travel to new places. She also serves as the newsletter editor for the National Alliance for Mental Illness of Washtenaw County.
