Programming: An Introduction to LGBTQ+ Language and Identities
The dije partners with the Spectrum Center at the University of Michigan to discuss how the School of Education can think deeper to create inclusive spaces for those in the LGBTQ+ communities.

Spectrum Event
On November 19th, 2020 the dije office partnered with the Spectrum Center at the University of Michigan to host a workshop entitled “An Introduction to LGBTQ+ Language and Identities.” Facilitators from Spectrum, Liz González and Alyssa Garcia, presented to the SOE community on gender identity, attractionality, and pronouns. Participants engaged in discussions around inclusive practices that can be employed as well as how to be an active ally. Finally, there were opportunities for participants to reflect on their own experience with allyhood development and identify personal and organizational change strategies. The dije x Spectrum partnership allows us in the Marsal Family School of Education to think deeper about what it means to create inclusive spaces for those in the LGBTQ+ communities.
