Tim McKay featured in LSA Magazine article about science podcast

The Spring 2018 LSA Magazine featured the LSA podcast How to Science. The podcast, hosted by U-M researcher Monica Dus, included Professor Tim McKay. McKay teaches and does research in LSA’s Departments of Physics and Astronomy, along with the School of Education, and founded U-M’s Digital Innovation Greenhouse.

The article featured a discussion among U-M scientists about trying—and sometimes failing—to talk with people about science and the work in which they are deeply engaged. McKay says, “When another individual looks you in the eye and is excited by what you’re talking about, it’s super powerful, as a primate and social animal, to have that happen.” The How to Science podcast has allowed McKay and other U-M researchers to communicate differently about their work.

Timothy A. McKay is Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Physics, Astronomy, and Education, Director of the Honors Program for the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts
