Miranda Fitzgerald receives Steven A. Stahl Research Grant from ILA

Miranda Fitzgerald, doctoral candidate in Literacy, Language, and Culture, received the 2017 Steven A. Stahl Research Grant from the International Literacy Association. Fitzgerald’s project is titled Texts and Literacy Tasks in Elementary Project-Based Science. Her advisor is Professor Annemarie Sullivan Palincsar.

The award was publicly announced on July 16 at the ILA Literacy Leaders Awards event. The Steven A. Stahl Research Grant was established to honor the memory and work of Steven A. Stahl by encouraging and supporting promising graduate students in their research. This grant is awarded annually to a recipient with at least three years of teaching experience who is conducting classroom research focused on improving reading instruction and children's reading achievement.
