Maisie Gholson named Researcher of the Year by University of Illinois at Chicago

The College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago honored Dr. Maisie Gholson at its 6th annual Alumni Honors Gala in April. Among the four honorees at the reception, Gholson was recognized as Researcher of the Year. She earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from UIC in 2016.

“What I enjoy about my work is the freedom that I have to create and imagine, and the role that I get to play as an advisor to graduate students, particularly other black women, is important to me,” she said. Over the next several years, Gholson will be researching the mathematical development of about 400 Black students from a variety of socio-economic groups.
