Liz Kolb featured on U-M home page for using social media in the service of public engagement

The landing page of the University of Michigan website features an image of Dr. Liz Kolb showing ELMAC intern Conall Walsh how she uses Twitter to network with other teachers.

Linking to a Record article about faculty public engagement, the feature details Kolb’s engagement work on Twitter. In the piece, Kolb explains the ways in which Twitter allowed her to interact with teachers across the globe. "I saw the positive power of it,” she explains, “that I can connect with all these professionals across the globe in one degree of separation rather than six degrees."

She currently uses the social media platform to share high-quality research with colleagues and followers, many of whom are K-12 educators. Kolb’s work on Twitter aligns with President Mark Schlissel’s faculty public engagement initiative, which was unveiled last year.

Liz Kolb is Clinical Associate Professor
