Student Ambassador Program

Last modified: September 16, 2014

Student ambassadors play an integral role in the recruitment and admissions process. Ambassadors are selected to serve as a strong link between their academic program and prospective students. The Office of Student Affairs is seeking positive people who want to share their experiences with others. The School of Education student ambassadors are the student “faces” of the school.

Eligibility Requirements

If you would like to be an ambassador, you must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking student in the School of Education, or a member of our Teacher Education Preferred Admission cohort.

Ideal candiates should have started their first term at the SOE and must maintain their degree-seeking status to be a Student Ambassador. We do work with alumni in a similar matter, meaning upon graduation, you could continue to be an Ambassador for your program and the school.  You must be able to represent the school and the university and be willing to volunteer for at least two events/or 10 hours per semester, attend meetings, and repersent the SOE on the website.

Student ambassador is a volunteer, unpaid, leadership position.

  • Assist with recruitment events (e.g. Fall Orientation, Open House, Admitted Student Campus Visit Days), presentations, webinars, and student panels
  • Be willing to have prospective students contact/communicate via phone, email, or in-person.
  • Be featured on the website with a SOE student ambassador profile
  • Meet individually with prospective students
  • Be knowledgeable about their respective degrees and programs, the application process, and living in Ann Arbor
  • Provide tours of the School of Education and the Brandon Center to potential students, alumni, and others
  • Ambassadors will have the opportunity to write blogs on their experiences as School of Education students

  • Greater engagement with the SOE community
  • Enhanced student experience
  • Student ambassador polo shirt
  • Participation in School of Education organized programs and events
